Image
Amidst the spectacular creations of nature, Bhutan has held on to its religious festivals and believes in celebrating them exuberantly. These celebrations are called Tshechus. Each calendar year witnesses every temple and Dzong in the country hosting at least one Tshechu. The beloved Guru Rimpoche who lived in the 8th century is worshipped and hailed by all. His birthday corresponds 2ith the 10th day of a said month. Tshechu literally translates to the "10th day". Ergo, various Dzongs and temples host a Tshechu on the 10th of their choice to celebrate and pay their respect to Guru Rimpoche. Tshechu's are culturally important as the entire village or city comes together to sing, dance, drink, celebrate and receive blessings. The Tshechu's held in Paro and Thimpu is surely a spectacular sight for the sore eyes that are tired of seeing only the traffic of urban life.
