Phuentsholing Entry — Here you need
to process your entry permit. It may take 2 to 8 hrs depending on the rush at
the counter. This permit process involves biometric data collection of tourists
like fingerprint scans and Retina scans. This permit process is a time-consuming
affair and involves hassles.

3. What is Online Permit or E-Permit
To avoid the rush at the
Phuentsholing Permit office, you may go for online permit processing before the
journey. However, you need to fulfill the following conditions to obtain the
online permit

if you want to visit Punakha, , Wangdue, Phobjikha, Bumthang Valley from

5. What is Sustainable Development
Fee ( SDF) and how it will impact Indian Tourists
Bhutan Tourism policy is based on
“Low Volume, High Value “ This means they are in favor of restricted tourism,
This policy is strictly followed for foreign Tourists ( Other than India,
Bangladesh, and Maldives Citizen) and the minimum tourism fees for the
foreigners is USD250 Per Head per night in Season and USD200 Per Head per night
in off-Season. Till now, there is no govt fees for Indian to obtain the permit
to enter Bhutan. In early February 2020, Bhutan govt has passed a bill in their
parliament to charge a Sustainable Development fee of Rs 1200/- Per Head Per
Day for the Indian Tourists also. It was supposed to implement from 1st July
2020, but due to the Covid19 pandemic, entry of tourists is not permitted from
6th March 2020 until further notice. It is expected they will decide the SDF
implementation date once the tourism re-opens in Bhutan
