North Bengal Tour with New Virgin Hamlet - Sitong and Chatakpur

Every destination has something unique to teach its visitors, a new language, and a new cuisine aspect of a different culture or a deeper appreciation of faith or spirituality. You will feel rejuvenated when you finish your trip successfully. Am always a nature freak and wants to stay away from Kolkata and used to visit North Bengal especially in the Kalimpong district, where Mt. Kanchanjhugha, Fog, Pine, Oak, and Rhododendron trees along with so many known and unknown flora and fauna will refresh you every time you visit beautiful hills of Darjeeling.

Sitong and Chatakpur, a Hidden hamlet to travel after the COVID period

This year, after this COVID pandemic, Darjeeling is open for tourists, and going for a North Bengal Tour with a relatively unknown destination like Sitong and Chatakpur is the best option to travel. Those are the real hidden jewels of Darjeeling Hills, relatively less crowded and full of natural beauty.

Sitong Tour also called the Orange Village and surrounded by Orange Orchard and on the bank of Riyang river, It is around 65 km from Siliguri and in the fringes of Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. It is situated around 4000 ft above the sea level and can be reached by private car in just 2.5 hrs from Siliguri. It is still an unexplored and very less known destination till now. Once you enter into Sitong, you will cross the Steel bridge Jogighat Bridge, which connects tow small hamlet Sitong and Mungpoo.

Chatakpur Tour, a serene village within the Sinchal Wildlife sanctuary and close to Darjeeling town, just 22 km away. This pristine village offers you a real jaw-breaking view of Mount Kanchanjungha on one side and another side a hilly stream, called “Rellykhola”. The village is surrounded by the lush green forest with Pine, Oaks, and rhododendron and within the village area, you can walk down to see “Sinchal Lake”, the main source of water to Darjeeling town. In Chatakpur, just do nothing, roam around in the forest area, visit the lake or just sit & relax to refresh yourself. The weather in Chatakpur is always cold and occasional snowfalls here in the winter months. The elevation of the Chatakpur is around 7800 ft and always cloudy.
