Sundarban, is the largest mangrove forest in the world and it covers an area of around 10,000 sq km and spreads over two countries India and Bangladesh. Around 60% of the forest is in Bangladesh, while the rest 40% is in India. This Sundarban is home to famous Royal Bengal Tiger along with a few rare wildlife like spotted deer, crocodile, snakes, and many other wild animals. It is the home of more than 300 different species of fauna and aqua fauna. The mangrove tree “Sundari”  protects the forest from cyclones and other natural calamities. The total area is the web of networks of rivers, canals, and creeks, which varies from very narrow creeks of only a few meter widths to the wide river of more than a kilometer width. Sundarbans is also having more than 1000 small to large islands and only a few of them are the inhabitant islands.

How to Reach Sundarban

Gadkhali (a Ferry Jetty) is around 150 km from Kolkata and is considered the prime gateway for Sundarban tour. From Gadkhali, your River cruise will start and will take you to the interior of the forests through various rivers, canals, and creeks.

 Day 1 – Arrive at Science City intersection in Kolkata at 8 am and you will board at the designated car for a journey towards Gadkhali. Packed breakfast will be served in the car.

Reach Gadkhali at around 11.30 am and transfer to the boat.

At around noontime, The boat will start sailing and you will be greeted with local fresh green coconut water.  The river here is quite wide and the boat will start sailing towards Dayapur island resorts.

Tea/Coffee/snacks/fish fry will be served on board.

Reach your resort at around 2 pm and check-in at the resort and have lunch.
